Short Term Projects
At RTC, we're dedicated to addressing urgent community needs through impactful short-term projects. Our initiatives include feeding programs for children and the elderly, as well as constructing a classroom for learners with special educational needs (LSEN). These projects are designed to provide immediate support and create lasting positive change in the lives of those we serve. Join us in making a difference in our community today.
Happie Club
The Happy Club has been a crucial support for the community, providing healthy, home-cooked meals to 150 children weekly at Laerskool David Brink from 2018 to 2020. This initiative relied on community sponsorships to offer a diverse range of foods. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the project expanded to deliver food parcels to up to 52 families each week, including essentials like meat, vegetables, and starch.
Rustenburg North
Education Facility
Founded 74 years ago, Rustenburg North Primary School is a well-respected institution in Rustenburg, initially designed for 750 pupils but now serving 1,500. Despite our dedication to providing quality education, our infrastructure struggles to keep pace with our growing student body. Temporary classrooms have deteriorated, creating safety and health concerns.
We are excited to announce a new development: thanks to a generous donation from Sibanye Stillwater and the support of several local companies, we are replacing an old classroom with a new parkhome facility. This project aims to improve our learning environment and continue our commitment to excellence in education.
Old Age Home
In July 2013, Annette Labuschagne moved to Rusoord retirement village, seeking ways to serve others. She founded the 'Industrious Fingers' group in 2014, focusing on art, knitting, and crocheting to engage residents in productive activities. As she connected with more people, she discovered that many were only receiving one meal a day due to financial constraints. Moved by their plight, Annette began preparing extra meals and treats every Tuesday for about 50 residents.
The project has since expanded, with contributions from RTC and generous supporters, providing meals for around 65 people. Local volunteers, including Elsabe, play a crucial role in meal preparation.
The World Needs A Father
Research shows that positively involved fathers significantly enhance mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being. Our global model of training, mentorship, and community has a proven record of transforming lives in countries worldwide.
Established by a congregation, our platform offers programs and projects designed to support community growth. We provide a welcoming door for anyone in need, regardless of their connection to the congregation.
Our programs and workshops include: "The World Needs Dads", “Live to Love” and "Life Coaching"
Kinderweek
After the great success of our first “Kinderweek” in December 2024, we saw that there is a real need in the community for an exciting and safe place for children once the school holidays come to an end.
In December 2025 we had our 2nd event with the theme of “Your adventure with God” as we believe that each child has a unique adventure with God, no matter their age. It was exciting to see how the children journeyed through the different countries and continents during the week, every day with new surprises, discoveries and opportunity to grow in their relationship with God.
“Kinderweek” is the perfect opportunity for children to:
- Learn more about Jesus
- Make new friends
- Enjoy fun activities and skills development
- And for parents – to have peace of mind knowing their children are in a safe and loving environment
Don’t miss out in 2026 – bring your friends and come experience a week full of faith, friendship, and adventure!
Speading Smiles
This project was launched already at the end of 2025, and will be rolled out in 2026.
New and old bicycles are being donated towards Lightouse Childrens home. Donated bicycles are being repaired and refurbished to ensure they are safe and ready to ride, creating new opportunities for joy, movement, and freedom.
The open sports fields across the road from Lighthouse will be made available over weekends, giving the children a safe space to ride. Through this initiative, they will have the opportunity to spend their free time, as any other child would— cycling, playing, and simply enjoying being outdoors — while also developing coordination, confidence, and new skills.
More than just bicycles, this project is about creating moments of normality, growth, and happiness — one ride at a time.
Dancing through the decades
In partnership with Shell’s Dance Academy, this short-term project was created to give young dancers the opportunity to perform on a professional stage. For many of them, it was their first experience performing at this level — a moment that not only showcased their talent, but also stretched their potential. There were 55 dancers, ranging from as young as 3 years old, up to 33 years old.
The exposure helped the dancers refine their skills, gain valuable performance experience, and most importantly, grow in confidence. Stepping onto a big stage allowed them to believe in their abilities and see what they are capable of achieving.
In return, the project also had a meaningful community impact. All funds raised through the event were donated to the Ligkasteel project of RTC, extending the benefit far beyond the stage.
This initiative was a celebration of talent, opportunity, and giving back — empowering young dancers while making a tangible difference in the community.
